Video Games in the Library

November 19, 2016, marked the American Library Association’s 5th annual International Game Day. But you can celebrate it every day at Marriott Library!

We began building our video game collection in March 2016 and currently have 225 games available to play on seven gaming systems, with more games being added monthly. We’re purchasing the most anticipated new releases as well as classic games, all in support of the U’s nationally ranked Entertainment Arts & Engineering Program.

Anyone with a current Ucard can borrow our games for up to 14 days without a renewal. And we encourage you to send an email to let us know which games you think we should add to our collection.

Also, be sure to stop by our video gaming arcade, located at the Media Viewing Stations in the northwest corner of the Knowledge Commons on Level 2. UofU students can use our PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles. They’re internet-enabled and have access to Marriott Library’s PS Plus account. Game controllers, as well as two hand-held consoles—a PSVita and New 3DS XL—can be borrowed for four hours at the Reserve Desk, also located on Level 2.

Go to ALA’s Games & Gaming Round Table website for more ideas about games and gaming in libraries. And keep an eye out for puzzles, board games, and maybe even Legos around Marriott Library.
